I installed this a while ago. My solution 
(http://www.linux.ie/pipermail/ilug/2001-February/028227.html)
was to boot to init 2, copy the files from KDE2 to KDE and restart in KDE 
normally. This worked for me, I make no guarantees it will work for you. Good 
luck.
