and ssh. to fetch your mail via ssh, use this:
poll my.imap.server.net via localhost
proto IMAP port 14300
user kevin
with pass "sekrit"
preconnect "ssh -x -f -L 14300:127.0.0.1:143 my.imap.server.net sleep 20 < /dev/null > /dev/null"
this of course assumes you have shell access to your pop/imap server.
there's also secure imap and other such things.
whichever one you choose, it's a good plan because neither the content
or your p/w can be sniffed.
