ok, today seems to be weirdness day for me.  no, more then normal.
a linuxtoday story reminded me that 9/9/2001 (02:46:40) is when
time() > 999,999,999.  this will be the last order of magnitude
increase for base ten representation with a 32 bit time_t.

so should we have a meeting then?  obviously not at 2am...
