i have 2.2.18 and i'm seeing problems.
if i automount five dirs:
inle:{/home,/home/ftp/cdrom,/home/ftp/redhat/cd[123]} on /net/inle/home on
my workstation germain, and then remove /home/ftp/cdrom from /etc/exports
on inle, run exportfs -ra on inle, then germain's amd will either hang
or moan to syslog constantly.
