Something does need to be done and it would be better done under the
auspices of an organisation such as the ILUG or IIU. As Donncha has
pointed out, this issue probably doesn't fall under the responsibility
of the ILUG, which doesn't really leave a whole lot of other
oganisations with the appropriate remit.
I don't believe the argument that somebody else would get the credit for
this is a valid one. The point of the exercise is not
self-aggrandisement, it's to try to push our public "representatives"
into actually representing us, something with they're not inclined to do
off their own bat.
However, you seem to know more about the IIU than I do, so perhaps you
could answer some questions for me?
a) Does the IIU have any formal structure or is it just a mailing list?
b) If there is a formal structure, what does it consist of?
