I found it necessary, after setting "hdd=ide-scsi", to add the following to
rc.local;
modprobe ide-scsi # loads the scsi emulation for hdd and claims to be
# ignoring hdc
modprobe ide-cdrom # loads the usual stuff for CDROM use.
I found that if I tried to modprobe ide-scsi on the fly, hdc would drop out
of the reckoning and I couldn't mount CD in the CDROM drive.
