I could be totally wrong here but.
Am I correct in thinking that you are trying to mount the CD in the
writer?

If so I believe that after inserting the ide-scsi module the drive will
nolonger be available under hdd any more.
But will now be available as a SCSI cdrom under something like /dev/scd#
Where # will be a number probably 0.
