Oh dear! It looks like I'm going to have to stay very quiet for a while
until people forget about this whole thing. I found what the problem
was...the only thing I can say in my defence was that the error message
is a bit misleading.
At some stage I had switched the isofs support from being compiled into
the kernel, to being a loadable module!!! Once this was insmod'ed
everything was ok. Ahhhhhhhhh!
Sorry again about the stupid nature of the question, but the error
message was a bit misleading.
Anyhow, I'll remain sheepish for a while
