Hi everybody,
got a stupid bash question here ... bash can do a lot of
pretty good _simple_ pattern matching, ie with ${xxx##yyy} and
such operators, also, it can match patterns for case statements.
With this in mind, I was trying to get bash to tell me if a
patter is in a string, ie.: is the char 'i' in the string "$-" ...
easy to do with grep, a la:
(echo "$-" | grep 'i') && echo "interactive"
is there a way of doing it using bash purely ? I spent quite
a while rt'ing the fm last night, but couldn't get it ...
As a by-the-way, does anyone know anything about those new blade100
Sun workstations ? Thinking of getting one, are they turkeys, or
worth having a look at ?
TIA
-kev
