I remember when i had a Spacewalker with a similar problem ... can remember
the name of the software that i used but you were able to set a zero point
in it. Maybe you need to set the zero point in software and not in hardware
?

My machine has a BIOS threshold of 35 degrees celcius for the CPU's & 30 for
the BX chipset. The BIOS then beeps continuously if it reaches this temp.
Windozs has a utility to shut down the machine, send mails and all that, but
I don't know what to use for linux. - And I don't doze anyway.
Why 35 degrees you say? Coz apps crash at higher temperatures... you may not
notice for a while coz linux is cool and gets on with it. For example, run a
3D intensive game and overclock your graphics board so that it gets hot.
Then run the game again, you will notice missing textures and instability
with the game if the temperature goes too high.
I was just about to send a post requesting info about your exact question,
sorry I can't help but can you mail this info please? Plus details about
what hardware sensors are on your system board. eh ignore last question coz
I can see below.

I'm pretty sure that the processor should be running ~50C, and the case
at least 25C. So, it looks like that's wrong. There seems to be some
majick involved for calibrating it etc....but what ?
