Firstly, thanks for all the help on recent questions I've had. But as they say, the more you know, the more you realise how little you know :-)
I think I mentioned this problem before, I'm trying to sort an NFS issue between linux (2.2.16) and Solaris 7. There seems to be a problem with the different versions of NFS, so I at m trying to upgrade NFS on linux.
Now, as I understand it, there are 2 ways of implementing NFS (sharing directories from a linux box) with linux, via the kernel or via a "user-space" NFS daemon. I also read that the kernel method is the preferred one. I also read that kernel version >= 2.2.19 is required for the latest version os NFS.
I'm trying to see if I have everything,
* compile new kernel(2.2.19), with NFS Server Support
* compile and install nfs-utils-0.3.1
* run nfsd
The machine I at m doing this on is being used during the day, so I need to do this after hours and I just want to make sure I have all I need. Anyone see any problem with this?
