The minimum call charge was discussed here some time, when somebody
intimated that the 5p minimum charge only applied at evenings and weekends.
This is not correct, and in fact that charge applies at all times, as I
discovered this evening when I wanted to check another specific charge on
Eircom's web site.
This has cheered me up slightly - having been kicked off Esat SNL already
(well, I did owe them some money, which they can sing for now) I've started
using Eircom and more often than not, my first call gets no carrier - it
once took me 4 calls before I got a carrier, and I'm relieved to know that
I'm only out 15p instead of 33p :-) On the plus side, I never get engaged
tones - they just answer the call, find there are no modems, and drop the
line.
Regards,
Niall
