Are you talking about SuSE IMAP Server II?

Hmm. If we talk about SuSE's package you can achieve this performance.
They use Cyrus as the IMAP/POP3 server which is scalable up to 30000 users.
Of course you have to have good machines.
But you can use anything else than SuSE. You can build the whole
stuff on debian, progeny-debian, redhat or anything else.
What you need are postfix (MTA) , cyrus(IMAP+pop3), LDAP (user
authentication) and webmail (if you want). The SuSE package only
consists of these and web based configuration programs. That's all.
