it's highly unlikely, but not entirely impossible. Daemons
are more prone to DoS'ing or simply failing because of an
incorrect time. In order for it to segfault it would have
to be very poorly implemented code.
I can't think of any way off hand that having an incorrect
time would directly lead to a segmentation fault, though
that's not to say it's an impossibility, some library
calls which are implementation specific (per library) may
be prone. I think some old implementations of syslog
relied on the system time, but that was done away with
a good while ago now. Even if they did, it's unlikey
they would segfault.
Having an incorrect time can lead to very complex sets
of problems, so it's definitely worth fixing it. If you're
trying to diagnose a segfault , tracing all the calls
with ptrace or gdb whould help find the cause.
