I reported a bug (a dup unfortunately) where the browser would die if you
went to 'about:plugins' before any Java-enabled sites and then went to a
Java-enabled site. It was something to do with the plugin manager seeing
that Java hadn't been running, starting it to get the Java settings, but
not *really* starting it, just sort of, so's it'd crash in use afterwards.

Fixed in recent versions, but I'm not sure what you're running, you tried
using it WITHOUT going to 'about:plugins'?
