cyrus have an IMAP proxy. allows you to have a cluster of IMAP
servers, each hosting a distinct set of users mailboxes. clients
connect to proxy, proxy connects to IMAP servers.
not fully redundant, if an IMAP server goes down you lose access to
the accounts on it. but still better to lose just, eg mailboxes a* to
d*, than all mailboxes.
look for "murder" on the cyrus website. (asg.cmu.edu iirc).
