Sounds like its not resolving the names. try running dig or the now obsolete
nslookup. Whats the search order? files hosts dns something something -
resolv.conf I think - Still asleep, no coffee yet :)
But the fact thyat you can ping the IP means its gonna be dns related
somehow.

I have a new installation of RH7.2 running on my desktop at work.
The machine starts without any errors but if I try to ping any machine by
it's name, the ping fails. I can ping to an IP address but not a name. I
checked the DNS settings for the card in Linuxconf and they are the right
ones. What could be wrong ?
