No, it works.
The code is quite simple, really, the CPU does everything
(you may therefore need to reduce your screen resolution and depth to speed
it up to the point where it works - I got best results with a 256-color
(8bit) 640x480 screen.). I suspect one could drastically improve
performance and sound quality with a little experimentation and the use of
3d-acceleration operations - at present, it just generates pure notes, not
complex modulations necessary for conveying speech, say.
