As was pointed out, that they don't chip modern sony players, because the
risk of destroying them. I got a Tatung DVD player for £200 18 months
back. Has dolby digital decoder on board, and was region free forever
after pressing some buttons on the remote.
The more people that don't accept region-locked DVD players, the better
the world will be.
