My humble thanks for that.

I've since discovered that a few RPMs were a little on the banjaxed side; this
may be related to the fact that I lost power during the upgrade. I started
again and all looked well at the time (X excepted), so I assumed it worked.
However, seeing as other RPMs are also proving to be idiosyncratic, I think a
fresh install is in order.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
