I have been working for a while trying to get mandrake 8.1 to boot off a
cd-rom. And appart from one problem, ive been sucessful. Here is the problem.
I dont know how to make a boot disk that will boot linux from an iso9660
filesystem. The bootimage that came with finnix did it sucessfully and
ive been using that to boot my mandrake cd - which causes
miles of problems as it is ta 2.2 kernel.
Anyone have any ideas?
I've tried using mkbootdisk and then making my own
initrd.img with mkinitrd . i pointed it to an fstab with the root defined:
/mnt/cdrom / auto
user,iocharset=iso8859-15,umask=0,exec,codepage=850,ro,noauto 0 0
the /mnt/cdrom bit is a bit odd but i took that from finnix.
Thanks
Mark
