Subtle difference here - unlike most DSL isps, Eircom doesn't intend to rent
equipment - you will have to buy it, and they will only provide support for
the equipment they specify. (That's from their website as of a couple of
weeks ago - don't hold me responsible if the fsckwits have moved the
goalposts again). If I own the device I'm damn sure I'll know the password.
