[ILUG] scripting S/MIME

Hi all,

I have a copy of openSSL and I'm looking to script the sending of emails 
using S/MIME.  All I need to do is send an automated mail securely to an 
email client that support S/MIME.  Clients as you may imagine are no problem 
but I'm having problems with where to start and would love to see and 
example script

Is there any quite general examples and/or better documentation out there?

I Googled and checked out the wwww.openssl.org site but the documentation 
wasn't great
