result!  cheers Kate, I was hoping I wouldn't have to do that myself and
slow down a day's work on my poor laptop ;)

I'll link to it from the subpixel howto.

BTW good news -- it looks like the Moz developers are thinking about using
Render in the official source,  so at some stage in the future it will
actually work right out-of-the-box.
