Oops! Missed the branch thing.
cvs rtag -b -D '3 weeks ago' old_branch module_name
And if you have already labelled something as (say) release 0.5
(rel-0-5) at the appropriate time, then
cvs rtag -b -r rel-1-0 branch-1-0 module_name
And apologies for forgetting the module_name bit the last time...
