[ILUG] Problems with X and xdm

[ILUG] Problems with X and xdm

Hi,

Ever since I upgraded my version on XFree86 and installed xdm I have been
having terrible problems. I can no longer start X windows without doing a
"sudo startx".

When I try and use xdm, I ge to a graphical login window, but after entering
my username and password, am returned to the same graphical login again.

I am running XFree86 Version 3.3.6 on FreeBSD 4.

Here is what shows up in the /var/log/xdmerrors file:

AUDIT: Wed Oct 3 16:14:52 2001: 382 X: client 2 rejected from local host
  Auth name: XDM-AUTHORIZATION-1 ID: -1
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: Client is not authorized to connect to Server
/usr/X11R6/bin/xrdb: Can't open display ':0'
AUDIT: Wed Oct 3 16:14:52 2001: 382 X: client 3 rejected from local host
  Auth name: XDM-AUTHORIZATION-1 ID: -1
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: Client is not authorized to connect to Server
Error: Can't open display: :0

Any and all help is appreciated,

Thanks,

Richard.
