Yep -- strictly pragmatic.
As I said, some software companies are useful, and will provide technical
support even if you're not on their list of top customers. Other
companies just aren't worth bothering with. So it's not cut-and-dried,
easy to observe abstractly; it's something you just run into on a
case-by-case basis...
