[ILUG] Good Hardware Emulator

[ILUG] Good Hardware Emulator

Can someone suggest a good hardware emulator that I could really get
my hands dirty with some assembler, or alternatively some hardware
device I could connect to a serial port (or similar, some small simple
and straight forward piece of hardware)? I have been thinking about
using sim6811 though I have have misinterpereted but, seemed as if the
interface consisted of some kind of C macro if memory serves......
Anyway for some reason the bsvc m68k emulator does not do xtermpipe
properly and just running ./xtermpipe may or may not be working but the
test program doesn't work see? So if someone knows how to fix this
problem and get the bsvc emulator working preferabaly on FreeBSD fess up
NOW ok? Otherwise can someone suggest a deacent emulator even if it is
(shock horror) dos based, or a friendly piece of hardware I could
resonably obtain and play with?
