sounds like the problem I had with a dell poweredge 1300 and 2.4.x

turns out it was a known bug in the kernel and i needed to get an AC patch
on it

Right. So what am I missing?

I'm using an Abit KT7 motherboard with a 750MHz Athlon.

Once upon a time under kernel 2.2.x I was able to shut the machine down
using halt/shutdown. Under 2.4 it just goes to System Halted and needs
the long press to power off. I've tried compiling the kernel with ACPI
instead of APM modules, I've tried compiling (just) the APM into the
kernel instead of as a module, and so on.

Any thoughts?
	Paul
