Yup, I used it a good few years ago, when I was first getting into
Linux. I managed to convince my boss that it would be a good thing for
me to get Unix experience via linux. We had some new fangled PC's with
cards that XFree86 didn't support at the time so I got him to get me the
Accelerated X server. Lovely package. Easy install way back when that
got easier. I was very pleased with it. So much so that I kept using it
up version 4.0 (the original I got was 2.1). Then around the time of
RedHat 6 and the glibc issues I stopped (as it didn't work) and started
using XFree86. I've been thinking about it for my laptop as of late but
can't justify the expense out of my own wallet :-D.

No idea about any of this. Though the later Voodoo chip sets were the
"flag ship" cards for the Accelerated3D X server.
