[ILUG] Accelerated X...

Thanks Kate,

Sound, I shall give it a wee go before I splash out on xig. Think there is a
spare drive lying around that I could test a setup on with the demo xig
stuff. It works fully for 10 minutes then closes the x-server so thats grand
for a test.

I am running Redhat 7.2 on my athlon box. dying to try out mandrake 8.1.

I am seriously impressed with Redhat 7.2, installed it there friday or
thursday of last week. Comes on 5 CD's including sources and docs, there is
also an administration ISO 35megs or something, I am waiting for more cd's
from the post room this week before I can burn more.

And now that I think of it, I have actually selected multiple resolutions
(for playing games acros the room with remote mouse) BUT, I the lowest
resolution is 1024*768 or the one above it.

So sounds like you are right my good man.

Later laddies,
CW

----------------------------------

That sounds like you don't have X setup to do multiple resolutions. Make
sure you have;

       Subsection "Display"
                Depth 16
                Modes "1600x1200" "1280x1024" "1152x864" "1024x768"
"800x600" "640x480"
        EndSubSection

otherwise, when Quake starts up, in 640x480, it'll stay in 1600x1200,
with a 640x480 window.

Kate
