well that's up to you. but the point is to have it as a module so you
could remove it without a reboot.

Yeah, but if you're going to use ide-scsi one way would be
to leave ide-scsi and ide-cd both as modules. Admittedly it'll require a
reboot *once* when you compile the kernel. Then when you want to
use your cdrw you just remove the ide-cd module and insert the
aforementioned ide-scsi modules.
