Well, all you really have to do is append
hdb=ide-scsi

to the command line in lilo.conf
	append="hdb=ide-scsi"

and then the ide-cdrom driver will ignore it.

I bet I got the syntax wrong, and someone else can tell me what it is
exaclty, but it's something like that.

To test, get to the LILO prompt, and boot as:
linux hdb=ide-scsi

L.
