I remember a while ago someone was asking about getting X working on a
laptop, and I couldn't remember this page, but I've found it again.

Have a look at : http://www.linux-laptop.net/

I found it useful for getting a Gateway Solo 2100 working on X. It might be
useful, and if not, might have some good links to have a look at.
