weight matters /immensely/ on airplanes.
you know why a lot of the american airlines fly silver planes? to save
the weight of the paint. which saves fuel, which saves money when you
fly hundreds of planes thousands of times per year.
even more significantly, weight costs money in terms of fuel required
and cargo/passenger space you can't carry.
