I deleted the MACHINE.SID.
Also i made it readable by everyone and the same error came up.

unable to lock file /etc/samba/MACHINE.SID. Error was Invalid argument
[2001/09/13 11:52:34, 0] smbd/server.c:main(682)
ERROR: Samba cannot create a SAM SID.
Previously i upgraded to ssl 0.9.6 so maybe that might be problem is
their any libs that samba uses..
