[ILUG] Modem problems with SuSE 7.2

Hi all,

I recently installed SuSE 7.2 but have run into problems with my modem.
This is my first attempt at SuSE so bear with me.
(please reply directly as i am not yet on the list...thanks!)

I have checked that my modem is supported on the suse website and it says it it supported in the kernel, which i reckon is good.

In KDE when i check in KDE Control Centre under System -> Communication Controllers
it lists my correct modem - HCF 56k PCI Modem (Communication Controller).
However when i try to configure my modem through YAST2 it does not see it, and says
"using unrecognised modem if present".

I have set my modem as /dev/ttys0 is this right?
i can choose from /dev/modem (default), /dev/ttyAcm0 (1/2/3) or ttyS0 (1/2/3).

When i try to connect to my provider (Eircom - subscription account) with KInternet,
i get the following message:
Sending ATZ.
Modem not responding.

BTW modem works fine through windozs.

Anyone have any ideas as this is the only thing holding me back from dumping windoze completely.

Thanks in advance.

Sam.
