W2 reports the connection speed
if ATW2 doesn't work, try ATS95=1 which should do the same thing ... neither
work on 3Com / USR modems though (they have their own command-set) !

Although there are factors other than raw speed including the type of error
correction / compression being used by the modem and the ISP
