No thats the MAC address, you are getting the info over DHCP most likely,
try :

ifup eth0

then run ifconfig again and it should have an IP address then. Does your NIC
go beep-beep during boot/removal/insertion?

You may have the wrong module loading for your NIC.

My 2 euros,
CW

Subject: [ILUG] Network Adapter Address

Quick question:

I need to get the Network Adapter Address of a PCMCIA card. What's the
quickest way to find it?

I've run ifconfig and it shows me a HWaddr of 00:10:A4:01:A5:07 for eth0.

Perchance would that be it???

Mike
