Many people refuse to believe that such a list isn't in their
self-interest until they experience it for themselves. So, of
late, I've abandoned my traditional practice of trying to explain why,
and instead encourage timid, hypersensitive newcomers to create these
ghettos and try them. If they're not up to the task of creating such,
they can have Yahoo Groups do it for them.
And if they end up liking the experience, hey, more power to 'em.
"Is it not the beauty of an asynchronous form of discussion that one can go and
make cups of tea, floss the cat, fluff the geraniums, open the kitchen window
and scream out it with operatic force, volume, and decorum, and then return to
the vexed glowing letters calmer of mind and soul?" -- The Cube, forum3000.org
