The filesys is ext2 and I never though of checking the logs. The machines at
home, I'l l check it tonight

What filesystem was involved? I was going to suggest make sure you have 
support for that compiled in, but if you managed to mount /home it 
must be in there already...

Very odd. Any strange messages in the logs?
