i get the horrible feeling im missing something here,
but if you need to connect to winxp boxes using ssh
just install cygwin, then run the ssh-install-host
script to configure ssh (it will even set it up as an nt service
for you)

Subject: [ILUG] linux <-> winxp vpn over ssh

Mornin' all,
I want to set up the above mentioned vpn between a linux box and a
winxp box. The main problem i'm have is that it has to be over a tcp
connection (provided by ssh). PPTP won't work because it uses GRE, L2TP
uses IPsec, IPsec has to use publically accessible hosts (which thesse are
not), and CIPE uses udp and doesn't run on winxp, only 2k.
Have i missed something? Otherwise, i may be reduced to writing a
fake null modem driver for xp, and connecting to it using ppp. Of
course, i've no idea how difficult that would be, and it does sound like
pain, so i'd be happy to hear of another solution. Any suggestions?

Steve
