What about doing a safe install? Check the first install screen where you
normally press enter to continue with the install. There should be an option
to instead of pressing enter, entering linux safe  (cant remember what the
redhat screen is and never seen the suse one but there should be an option
to press f1 for help)

Enter your bios and try disabling your infrared port in the bios.
