But are you running xsetiathome? The doze screensavers runs by default.
The saver takes approx 50% of the cpu.

Just to completely compound what we always knew, I have two almost identical
systems here, both AMD Athlon 1.4GHz, both 256Mb RM, one running windoze XP
and one running RedHat 8.0.
Setiathome on the RedHat box processes a unit every 4 Hours.
Setiathome on the Windoze box takes 25 Hours.
That's what I call an OS overhead.
