I'm amazed at the level of support that people are giving windoze though.
Two people have got back in it's defense already.....

But are you running xsetiathome? The doze screensavers runs by default. 

The saver takes approx 50% of the cpu.

Just to completely compound what we always knew, I have two almost identical
systems here, both AMD Athlon 1.4GHz, both 256Mb RM, one running windoze XP
and one running RedHat 8.0. Setiathome on the RedHat box processes a unit
every 4 Hours. Setiathome on the Windoze box takes 25 Hours. That's what I
call an OS overhead.
