[ILUG] cars & linux (was several other topics)

Smith, Graham - Computing Technician Graham.Smith at it-tallaght.ie

Well thats all very well while its under warranty, but following that
I'd like to have the choice of who I trust my car to for repairs and
servicing.

Its like your pc - ok some dont know how a pc works or
whats in the case, but they still have the option of taking a
Dell or Compaq etc to be repaired wherever they like and
not just specifically the original manufacturer.

Now if a certain redmond company was to make cars. . . .

Anyway on another note - I would be interested to know what
car manufacturers use Linux in their engine management systems
or other onboard devices etc.

G.

Personally I'd buy a car like that, coz I have no clue as to what goes on
under the bonnet. Then if something does go wrong, its the manufacturers
fault and they can send me a new one ;--)

--> I've blown up three out of four motorbikes from being clueless about
engines ;-(
