Hi Paul

hehe..nope i read all the mails from ILUG..especially
if they are from..you i also read your letters to the
editor written in linux journals..hhehee..My idea was
initially this

1)convert the fixed length file to tab limited and
then run the sort on it.
2)was just wundering wheather i can run the sort
utility on the  fixed length file itself


i am familiar with awk not perl..could you gimme some
pointers on how to do it..as at present i dont have an
idea..
