[ILUG] <Highly OT> Windoze Gaming Problem

Remember my isp who cuts the line every 10 minutes 'idle', and my kid 
getting dumped offline in the middle of all his games?
Coming away from this list last time I had suggestions to work on

1. Continuous ping (Someone gave me this dos syntax: ping -a -t 
someserver.com)
2. keepalive program (which also does a continuous ping, but varies the 
server).
3. Popcorn - the tiny e-mail program doesn't keep the line alive either.

None worked. Ping in a Dos box didn't seem to keep the line alive or maybe it 
was ignored (there are some fairly fancy options available in linux for 
deciding what is traffic and what isn't). This game apparently sends TCP/IP 
or UDP packets on port 6112.  They don't keep the line alive either. So off 
he goes, it counts in the stats as a loss, and that irks him greatly.

Browsing works to keep the line alive; Downloads work. I'm not tempted to try 
news - those who get on there say too much too often. I'm open to the more 
exotic or ancient protocols (archie, finger, gopher, etc) as long as they can 
happen under windoze, have low bandwidth, and stay going.

Is there a way of running a very slow download in Windoze (e.g. d/l a kernel 
tarball or an iso image with that connection at 300 baud), leaving him with 
the bandwidth for the game and keeping the line alive? Maybe even browsing to 
an animated gif or something that will give a tiny regular feed of info. FTP 
to the slowest site in the world; that's what I need. I remind all still 
reading this is under windoze, not a versatile os like linux.
