<rant topic="windows" mood="tired&ersand;pissed off">
that is what really pisses me off about windows users. i problem, i
think is windows is that it bring everyone down to the same level.
the experienced hacker is brought down to the level of a compophobic
granny. windows is not well supported, anything breaks it is sent back
to the computer shop who just backup the data and do a reinstall. there
is no way to fix problems. for example on a machine im working on at the
moment(for l'il brother to play games) when i try to go into display
settings it freezes. no explaination, not even a crytic one. had it been
linux(or any other opensource software) i would have found an answer on
irc or usenet in minutes.
also it's is not easy to install, contrary to popular belief. i found
the debian install and the openbsd installs simplier( i haven't tried rh
or mandrake lately so i cant comment on them. i hear the connectiva
install is nice too). the only reason the windows install is deemed
easier is that someone else does it in the factory. sure you have to
reboot 6 times for the win98se install(exluding crashes).
it's slow as well. i was using XP on a p4 1.6 with 256 meg last night
and it was extremely sluggish. like walking through really thick mud
with a big lump of shite in you pants.
but im wandering off the topic now so i'd better end the rant.
