All of a sudden (and it may be after upgrading my box to SuSE 7.3) I am
seeing a peculiar kind of z with an upside down circumflex on top of it
where I should be seeing some kind of quote marks. The below is cut and
paste from the rsync man page
You can also use rsync in local-only mode, where both the source and
destination don´t have a ´:´ in the name. In this case it behaves like an
^ ^ ^
improved copy command.
The characters I see in the second line above, as indicated by ^ in the
third line, are these funny characters. Not entirely unexpectedly, when I
ssh in from my OS X Powerbook these characters are seen as expected. More
unexpectedly, I just fired up an xterm and they're OK there too. The
character I should see is an apostrophe, I suppose, as against a backtick
or a single quote where
apostrophe - goes from bottom left to top right
backtick - goes from bottom right to top left
single quote - goes straight up
My normal terminal is konsole so I suppose it's a konsole issue, but does
anyone know how to fix it ? When I go into konsole Settings->Font it doesn't
matter what I choose, it's always the same problem. I tried to choose custom
to see if that would help but I can't make the custom settings stick.
